From the short answer to the operating decision.

01

1. Separate the confirmed changes by marketplace

Amazon's official Selling Partner API notice confirms that Amazon stopped accepting AMAZON as the prepOwner or labelOwner for US FBA inbound operations from 1 January 2026. This is a US-store change, not evidence of a worldwide or European policy.

2. Canada follows on 1 July 2026

Amazon's Canada announcement says that products must be prepped and labelled before reaching its facilities from 1 July 2026. It also points sellers towards self-preparation or an independent service provider.

3. Do not convert a North American announcement into an EU claim

The public notices above concern the US and Canada stores. A seller shipping into Amazon EU should confirm the current marketplace, product and destination requirements inside the live shipment workflow rather than assuming that a rule has—or has not—changed across Europe.

4. Prepare from the current shipment plan

Amazon's current FBA preparation guidance covers barcodes, labels, packaging, loose products, product-specific preparation and shipping boxes. The operational brief should therefore include the live unit labels, carton labels, quantities, product type and destination for that shipment.

5. Use an independent prep centre without transferring seller responsibility

A preparation partner can receive stock, document visible exceptions, apply agreed labels and protection, verify cartons and hand the shipment to the selected route. The seller should retain responsibility for the account, listing, product compliance, tax position and current shipment plan.

6. What Shopogolic Portugal can verify

The published operation in Cesar can scope inbound checks, FNSKU labelling, corrective relabelling, bagging, bundling, kitting, carton preparation and dispatch evidence for eligible Amazon EU flows. Shopogolic Portugal is an independent logistics operator and does not claim to be Amazon or to control Amazon's receiving decision.

FAQ

Questions before you start.

Did Amazon stop FBA prep throughout Europe in 2026?

The official public sources cited here confirm changes for the US and Canada stores. They do not prove an equivalent EU-wide change. Sellers must verify the live requirement in the relevant European Seller Central workflow.

Does every FBA seller need an external prep centre?

No. A seller can prepare eligible inventory internally when it has the equipment, current instructions and quality controls. An external centre becomes useful when stock needs local receiving, correction, labelling, packaging, consolidation or documented dispatch.

Is Shopogolic Portugal part of Amazon?

No. Shopogolic Portugal is an independent Portuguese logistics operator. Its preparation work follows the current shipment instructions supplied by the seller.

What is needed for a preparation quote?

Provide the marketplace, destination, SKUs, quantities, product type, unit and carton labels, required preparation, carton limits and expected arrival date.
